Paul Ryden Bailey died on October 19
,
2014, after
an eight year battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he fought with courage.
He was born in Lewiston, Idaho in 1938 to the late, Harry
and Edna Bailey.
He graduated from Northwest Nazarene College (now Northwest
Nazarene University) in 1960 and earned a master’s degree in education from
Boise State University in 1985. Paul
taught elementary school in the Boise School District for 36 years. His love of reading and expansive library
reflected his many interests through the years: teaching, painting, art,
poetry, fly-fishing, martial arts, golf, tennis, travel, and faith.
Paul married Jan Whetzel in 1980. A previous marriage ended in divorce.
A man of character and honor, Paul quietly lived out his
faith in Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He
was a loving and loyal husband to wife Jan; supportive brother to sister Julie
Tusberg, Boise; kind and loving father to children and grandchildren: Carla
(Fred) Nicholson, VA; Jennifer Marshall, NJ; Brian (Nicole), Samantha, Harry
Bailey, CA; stepchildren: Kim (Bret) Pattan, Horseshoe Bend; Ron (Deanna)
Whetzel, Nampa; step-grandchildren and great grandchildren: Aaron (Fallon),
Allison, Luke Whetzel, Boise; Jana (Landon), Kai Grindheim, NC; newphew and
nieces: David and Lisa Tusberg, Boise; and Noelle (Robert) Duryee, CA. He is survived by all.
Memorial service will be held November 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at
Cole Community Church, 8775 Ustick Rd., Boise, ID 83704.
