Phyllis Zubizareta (Felisa Mendiola, born July 10, 1922)
passed peacefully in her sleep on December 19, 2018, at Life Care Center of
Treasure Valley at the age of 96.
She
was the daughter of Ana Ostalaza and Gervacio Mendiola and wife to Antonio Zubizareta.
Phyllis was born in Baker, OR and her family
moved to Boise, ID when she was a child.
She was a homemaker her whole life, raising her 5 sons and helping at
the family farm.
Phyllis married Antonio
on February 17, 1946, in Boise, Id and they soon started a family.
They lived in Othello, WA before settling in
Boise, ID permanently in 1973.
Phyllis
was an avid bingo player and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles her entire
life, usually having at least 2 crossword books around her at all times.
She was social and enjoyed spending time with
and meeting new people.
She volunteered
for several years at the senior center in Boise, delivering meals as part of
Meals on Wheels.
She was a proud
grandmother to 14 grandchildren and great grandmother to 24.
She was proud of her family and they were the
light of her life.
She is preceded in
death by her parents, husband and son, Johnny Zubizareta.
She is survived by her sons, Joe, Frank,
Mike, and Richie Zubizareta, their spouses and her many grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Alden Waggoner Funeral Chapel at 5400 Fairview Avenue, Boise, ID on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 2:00
PM, with a viewing the same day at noon.
She will be interred at Dry Creek Cemetery immediately after.
