Randall Kurt Hohnstein or “The Great Randeenie” as he often
referred to himself, left us all behind on August 15, 2015. It was a truly
devastating day for his family. Randy was born December 10, 1962. He was the 2
nd
of 3 children born to Mona and Donald Hohnstein. He was stuck in the middle of
his two sisters, Candace and Christine. They had approximately 1 year between
their ages. The three were thick as thieves and defended each other fiercely.
Their mom often said, “One would lie and the other two would swear to it!”
Charles Lindeen joined the family early on and took over as Dad. Randy loved
hunting and especially fishing. He spent a lifetime of summers camping and
fishing with his family and grandparents at their cabin in Donnelly, ID. He
graduated from Boise High School in 1981. He worked for a short time in Alaska
but quickly decided “6 stinking guys crammed into one room” was not the life
for him. Randy came home and began working at the family owned business, 20
th
Century Bowling Lanes. He showed a true passion and knack for working on the
pinsetters and eventually became head mechanic and made it his life long
career. He was an avid bowler who bowled on many leagues. His high series was a
767,and high average of 201, he even had a last outstanding series of 739! The
bowling lanes is where he met the love of his life Paula Tillet. They worked
side by side and were married in 1985. Jessica Raye was born in 1989 and Lucas
Allen was born in 1991. They felt so blessed to have two beautiful and perfect children.
Randy loved his family so much he had their names tattooed on his body. The
four of them spent time at the cabin and took many trips together. Both Jessica
and Lucas inherited his love for bowling and are both top notch bowlers. Randy
had a great love of music and often sang and played his guitar at the HiHo
Club. One of his favorites was “She’s a Good Hearted Woman.” Randy was very
creative and was always tinkering on one of his self-made gadgets. He took up
leather working and made wonderful gifts for the family. One of Randy’s
greatest loves was for his pets. He had cats and dogs all his life. If Randy
was sitting, he had at least one of his loving pets with him. Randy will be
long remembered for his sense of humor. He was a master at playing practical
jokes. Everyone was fair game for his hijinks but they were all good natured.
Randy was a loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend. He will be
dearly missed by all who has ever known them. Randy is survived by his wife
Paula, his children Jessica, fiancé Robert, Lucas and wife Acacia, parents Mona
and Chuck, sisters and brothers in law
Candace and Bob, Christine and Denis and niece Haily, plus many other friends
and relatives.
Grandma and Granddad will be waiting with open arms for their
only grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
