Raymond W. Volkers of Nampa passed away March 18th, 2019 at
a Boise hospital after a lengthy illness, he was 78.
Memorial services will be held at Alden Wagoner Funeral
Chapel, Boise Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 am officiating will be Chaplan
Tom. Private burial will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery at a later date.
Raymond was born in Rupert, Id. December 17th, 1940, to Ward
and Georgia (Boatright) Volkers. They eventually moved back to
Bloomfield, Nebraska just down the road from their Grandparents second
generation farm until he was 16 and then came back to Idaho. In 1959
after graduating high school he enlisted in the Navy. He completed his
education at Idaho State University in Pocatello.
He married Emy Lou (Coomer) Volkers in Wells, Nevada on
December 31, 1989. They lived in Pocatello where he taught at Idaho State
University then moving to Nampa where he enjoyed his retirement years.
Raymond enjoyed and spent time at shooting tournaments,
hunting, model airplanes, collecting and woodworking. He spent many hours
enjoying, studying and making beautiful pieces that he sold at craft
shows. He made all his grandchildren beautiful hope chests and drawers.
He was always eager to teach and share the information he learned over the
years through his teaching career and hobbies.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Emy, two brothers
Lee Volkers of Meridian, Id, Jeff Volkers of Walla Wall, Wa, three sisters
Roberta Charles of Craig, Co, Linda Volkers of Athens, Ga and Judy Stulberg of
Lake Havasu City, Az. When he married Emy he also welcomed a family along
with grandchildren and great grands who all called him Gramps.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Georgia
Volkers; Brothers, John Volkers and David Volkers. Stepson James
Richardson and Grandson Jacob Richardson.
