Dad was an educator, equal parts student and teacher of academics, athletics, humanity and nature. Critical thinking was always required in Bob Carter’s traditional environmental knowledge classroom.
Born and raised on the banks of the Illinois River, he played football at the University of Illinois, later at Colorado State University. His undergraduate degree was in history and education, with a master’s degree in Zoology.
Dad moved his young family to New Meadows, Idaho in 1961. He taught and coached there, followed by Marsing, and finally at East Junior High in Boise. Idaho’s fish and game were frequent and honored guests at our dinner table all of those years.
Bob was a past president of the Pacific Northwest Ski Association (PNSA). He was FIS TD #346 (International ski racing official), presiding over course approvals and races in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
He is survived by children Noah (Janet) Carter and Leslie (Brian) Donesley; grandchildren Adam (Teegan) Carter, Brett (Lindsey) Carter, Seth Perez and Alie Perez; and, great grandchildren Henry, Noah and Lily Carter.
