Richard
Joseph (Dick) Braese, Jr., died on August 17, 2017 at a local hospital.
He
was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 31, 1931 to Richard and Marjorie
Braese. Dick graduated high school in Everett, Mass, in 1949.
He
served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1948 until 1951. He then
enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 6, 1952 and was honorably discharged
March 5, 1956. Dick served during the Korean War. He was assigned to the
psychological warfare unit, the 1300 Air Resupply and Communications unit, 582
nd
Reproduction Squadron. The unit printed and dropped leaflets from B-29 Bombers
over Korea. The remainder of his enlistment was served at the Strategic Air
Command, Omaha, Nebraska.
Dick
has three sons: Richard III, Fredrick, and John, and a daughter, Michelle. Dick
owned Ultra Graphic Products and Equipment company, retiring March 31, 2004.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, and sister.
Dick’s
hobbies consisted of gardening, woodworking, and poetry. Dick and his sons, Rik
and John, restored and operated the print shop at the Idaho Historical Museum
for 40 years. Rik will continue its operation for the next 40 years.
A
committal service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the
Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
