Richard “Rick” Edward Hoyer Jr., 55, of Boise, Idaho passed
away May 9, 2012. Rick was born March 1,
1957, in Sandusky, Ohio to Richard and Joyce (Jackman) Hoyer.
Rick spent his younger years in Ohio before coming to Idaho
to live with his father in Twin Falls.
He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1975. Rick graduated with honors from Boise State
University with an Associate’s Degree in Semiconductor Manufacturing in 2003. Upon completion of his degree, he continued
his work at Micron for several years.
He was married to Teresa Tonkin, the love of his life, in
1992. In their twenty-five years
together they lived and breathed everything Idaho. They enjoyed activities including many rock
and country concerts, Boise State football games, the River Festival, camping,
canoeing, skiing, hiking, and biking in
the great outdoors. Rick was a man of
various talents and hobbies. He was fascinated
with gardening, gemstones, playing rock n’ roll on his Fender guitars, and most
recently jewelry making.
Their cockatiels, Goucho and Bucko, meant the world to him
and were an important part of their family.
Rick is survived by his wife Teresa; father and mother,
Richard and Nancy Hoyer of Twin Falls; sisters Shawna Hoyer, Rhonda (Rob)
Schaffer, nephews, Coby and Grady, and niece, Brennah. Also, sisters Anna and Paula of Kentucky and
Michelle of Florida. Numerous aunts,
uncles, and cousins in both Idaho and Ohio.
Father-in-law Bill (Barbara) Tonkin, sister-in-laws, Mary (Mark)
Holleron and Katie Thompson. Brother-in-laws
George Tonkin and Don (Trish) Tonkin, and 6 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother Joyce Jackman Levy.
Rick recently spoke of how happy he was in his life. He will be dearly missed by all of his family
and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012,
at 2:00 p.m., at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
