Robert (Bob) Dean Herndon
passed away peacefully Sunday March 26, 2017 as the sun was rising in Weiser
Idaho where he resided. Bob passed from this life to the next after a short
illness, at his home, with his wife of sixty-one years and his youngest son by
his side. He was 81 years old.
Bob was born in Eureka Springs
Arkansas September 16, 1935 to Earl and Delia Herndon, he was the fifth child
born to them.
He attended Grassy Knob School,
a one room schoolhouse, from grades one through seven. At the start of the
eighth grade he began attending school in town. After graduating from Eureka
Springs High School, Bob moved to Rupert Idaho and lived with his sister and
brother in law, Don and Mary Farmer. While living in Idaho, Bob drove trucks
hauling potatoes.
Bob met his sweetheart Marlene
Shaklee in 1954 and were married by Marlene’s father Rev. Charles G Shaklee in
Rupert on May 27, 1955. They made their first home in Salt Lake City Utah. They
later moved to North Ogden Utah in 1964 and there, raised all three of their
children. After retiring, Bob and Marlene moved to Weiser Idaho.
Bob and Marlene were parents to
three children Debra; New York City, Larry (Ross);Salt Lake City, Rob
(Rebecca); Ogden, Utah.
Bob is survived by his wife and
children and their grandsons Scott, Keith, Thomas, Derek, Brady, Kyle, Jeremy,
Joshua, James and finally, granddaughter Olivia. Eight great-grandchildren
Jake, Luke, Sebastian, Hunter, Rylee Jo, Burton, Katelyn and Lauren. Sisters,
Betty (Vernon) McNeill; Lyons, CO, Mary Farmer; Grand Junction, CO, Mollie
(Kenneth) Pinkley; Eureka Springs AR, Brother, Kenneth (Linda) Herndon; Eureka
Springs AR and Sister in law Melissa Herndon Eureka Springs AR. As well as many
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his
parents and siblings Marjorie, James Earl, Bill, Earlene and Don Herndon
Bob was an active member of the
Assemblies of God Church and has served as a Deacon at both Canyon Road
Assembly of God in Ogden and Cornerstone Assembly of God in Weiser.
Bob’s favorite scripture is
found in 2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought a good fight, I have held my course, I
have kept the faith; Henceforth there is laid up a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only,
but to all them also that love his appearing.”
A memorial service will be
held on Saturday, April 1, at 11:30 a.m., at Cornerstone Assembly of God, 515
E. Court St., Weiser, ID 83672. Arrangements are under the direction of
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
