Robert "Bob" Sweaney Wheeler

Robert "Bob" Sweaney Wheeler, 67, passed away on October 6, 2012 at a local care center. Bob was born on December 14, 1944 in Riverside, California. He moved to Boise, Idaho at an early age and remained there for most of his life.

Bob grew up in Boise and attended Borah High School where he played football and was student body president. He later attended the College of Idaho on a football scholarship and graduated with a business and marketing degree. Bob became a banker and later studied to become a stockbroker. He worked for brokerages in the Boise area until his retirement. Bob had two loving children, Bob and Traci, from his first marriage to Christine Tyler. He later married Nancy Nordling in 1983, and was blessed with his wonderful stepdaughter, Lanae.

Bob was always known for his huge heart, good humor, and compassion for others. He valued his faith, family, and friends above all. He enjoyed coaching Little League football, playing softball and riding motorcycles for many years, as well as his continued passion for golf. He was adored by all who knew him, especially his family, children, grandchildren, and many dear friends. Bob had a kind, generous heart and enjoyed helping others, as was evident during his many years as a Young Life leader. He also served for many years on the missions committee at his church and went on a mission to Papua New Guinea. He was always a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Norma J. Wheeler, and both maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wheeler, father, Harold William Wheeler, sister, Linda Clark, brother, Bill Wheeler, his three children, Bob Wheeler (Tamera), Traci Hess (John), and Lanae Phillips (Tracy), and 7 loving grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Wheeler, Zachary, Connor, and Paige Hess, and Kallianne and Kolby Phillips, as well as many cousins and dear friends.

Bob's family would like to thank the caring staffs at Spring Creek in Meridian, the Bee Hive in Meridian, and XL Hospice for their compassion and support.
