Robert “Bob” William (89), and Florence (87) Goar, entered
into the loving embrace of our Lord following a tragic and senseless pedestrian
versus automobile accident. Florence and Bob passed away on February 26, 2019
and March 8, 2019 respectively, due to the severity of their injuries.
Bob was born October 6, 1929 in Bisbee, Arizona, to William
and Helen Goar. Bob joined the Navy after graduation and four years later he
transferred to the air force. Bob proudly retired from serving our country
after twenty-four years.
Florence was born July 17, 1931 in Sheridan, Missouri, to
Bill and Faye Brooks. Later the family moved to New Market, Iowa to farm.
Throughout her life, basketball was her passion. She was the center for the
first WNBA team. The team played throughout the U.S., Mexico City and
Guadalajara. Florence attended the American institute of Business in Des Moines,
Iowa. Bob and Florence met in Omaha, Nebraska where they both were working. They
fell in love and were married august 1958. They would have celebrated their 61
st
wedding anniversary this August.
Florence also enjoyed reading, gardening, and daily studying
God’s Word. She and Bob often knelt by their bed daily praying for family
members. Bob enjoyed helping others. He was active in neighborhood watch. He
also delighted in taking the Gospel of Jesus to the Penitentiary. He worked
with Chuck Colson’s Prison Fellowship Ministry. As a child Bob enjoyed riding
his horse Lucky. Later in life he loved riding his bicycle, reading, knitting,
and being with his family.
Bob and Florence are surivived by their daughters, Donna
(James) and Judy (Marshall); grandchildren, Aaron (Nicki), Zachary (Lindsey),
Sebastien, Jaki and Emily (Andrew); great grandchildren, Vivian, Natalia,
Brynn, and Katie.
Bob is survived by Sheila Goar of Arizona and Beverly
(Frank) Healey also of Arizona.
A Memorial Service for both Bob and Florence will be held at
2 p.m., on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
Inurnment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Colorado.
