Robert Mark Falconer, 71, passed away April 3, 2024, in Meridian, Idaho. Mark was a third generation Idahoan, born and raised in Boise. He was the neighborhood paper boy for many years and in high school he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from Capital High School, Mark moved to Moscow to attend the University of Idaho. One semester of college he went to Florida on an exchange program and always joked that he majored in golf and learned to dodge the alligators on the greens!
Mark graduated from the University of Idaho with an Outstanding Senior award and accepted a Graduate Fellowship which took him to George Washington University in D.C. His love of politics continued when he worked in the Senate for Senator James McClure from Idaho. Graduating with a Masters of Public Administration degree, he returned to Boise and spent the next ten years working in the Legislative Budget Office at the Idaho State Capitol. His next position was Government Affairs Manager for the Boise Chamber of Commerce, and finally ended his working career with eighteen years as Government Affairs Manager for Hewlett-Packard Co. After retirement, Mark continued to serve his community and state by participating on numerous corporate and school boards.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Kay, and children Deanna (Brad) Potts, and Erik (Kristen) Falconer. He loved his grandchildren and attended many of their activities: Grant Winn (23), Katie Winn (22), Paige Winn (19), Elliot Potts (17), Jackson Falconer (13), Emery Falconer (11), and Rhett Falconer (5). He is also survived by brother Mike (Becky) Falconer, sister Lisa (Olga) Falconer and numerous nieces and nephews and other special family members. He is preceded in death by his mother Joan Falconer, father Robert (Bob) Falconer, brother Tom Falconer, and sister Penny Falconer Lowe.
Mark will always be remembered for his wisdom and congeniality. He made friends quickly and they remained friends forever! His Christian faith was the most important thing in his life and he served as an Elder at church for almost twenty years. He and Kay served others in missions work locally, in Mexico, and overseas as far as Ukraine, where they again made lasting friendships. Their favorite trip was to Israel where they experienced many Biblical locations firsthand.
Family and friends are sad to lose this loving and talented man, but we celebrate knowing he is now home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. We wish to thank the love and care given to Mark during his stay at Veranda Memory Care and the staff with Lighthouse Hospice Care. A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 10th at 2:00pm at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Rd in Boise, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Mark's name to the Warhawk Air Museum, 201 Municipal Dr, Nampa, ID 83687, or to the World Center for Bird's of Prey, 5668 W Flying Hawk Ln, Boise, ID 83709.
