Robert Kay Falconer was born December 22, 1922 in Lodi, Ohio to Seymour DeForest Don Falconer and Lucille Halliwill Hine Falconer.  When he was three years old, his family moved to the Los Angeles area where he attended elementary school and junior high school.  His parents divorced.  In 1931, his Dad married Leota Drummond Christenson.  In 1935, they moved to Portland, Oregon, where he graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1940.  He worked for the News Telegram and Oregon Journal newspapers while he attended high school, and then worked for J.C. Penney Company after he graduated.

He married Violet May Young on August 22, 1941 and had two children, Tom and Penny.  This marriage ended in divorce in August 1946.

After the start of World War II, he worked at Swan Island Shipyards for Kaiser Construction as a laborer and welding lead man.  He joined the Navy in May 1944 and was stationed at the Farragut Naval Training Station in northern Idaho for Boot Camp and Electrician Mate Striker training.  He was then assigned to Camp Bradford, Virginia for amphibious L.S.T. training; Oran, Algeria and Palermo, Sicily to a teletype and cryptograph maintenance group; and finally to Bainbridge, Maryland and Bremerton, Washington for processing and discharge in March 1946.  He returned to work at the shipyards in Portland, and later worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, before moving to Boise and starting employment with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company in February 1947.  He retired from U.S. West in December 1982, after 36 years of service, as a construction lineman, plant clerk, installation foreman, plant supervisor and staff manager.  In January 1983, he became Doorkeeper to the Idaho House of Representatives and continued in that capacity for the next six years.

He married Joan Combe on June 27, 1948 at Arco, Idaho, and they moved to Boise where they have since resided.  They have three children: Mike, Mark and Lisa.

He attended Grimm’s Business School, and was an active member of Wright Community Church, Boy Scouts, Toastmasters Club #10, Elks Lodge #310, Telephone Pioneers, Cascade West Mountaineers, Telephone Retirees coffee group, and Cole Community Church.

He loved his family, grandchildren, time spent at their Cascade cabin, and music.

Survivors are three sons:  Tom (Renee) Falconer of Corbett, Oregon; Mike (Becky Seabock) Falconer of Boise; Mark (Kay) Falconer of Boise, a daughter Lisa (Olga Ekberg) Falconer of Englewood, Colorado; eleven grandchildren: Teresa Falconer of Pendleton, Oregon; Jackie Falconer Marsh of Portland, Oregon; Troy (Kim) Falconer of Corbett, Oregon; Chad (Chris) Lowe of Normal, Illinois; Rob (Holly) Lowe of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Wendy (Tyler) Lowe Hofeins of Mapleton, Utah; Josh Lowe of Provo, Utah; Todd (Michelle) Falconer of Boise; Matt (Tara) Falconer of Boise; Deanna (Rex) Falconer Winn of Boise; Erik (Kristen) Falconer of Boise; twenty-two great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His wife, soul mate, and love of his life for 55 years, Joan Combe Falconer, preceded him in death on March 23, 2002.  He was preceded in death by:  his twin brother, Ronald Falconer, at birth; his father, Don Falconer in 1963; his brother, Jack Falconer, in 1976; his mother, Leota Falconer in 1984; and his daughter, Penny Falconer Lowe, in 2012.

Memorials may be made to the Idaho Diabetes Association in Boise, Idaho; Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, Idaho; Cascade Medical Center Foundation in Cascade, Idaho; or a favorite charity.

Viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. A pre-service gathering will be held from 9:30 -10 a.m. with the graveside service starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, at Dry Creek Cemetery. This is a celebration, casual summer wear is accepted and encouraged.
