Ronald C. Manning

Ronald C. Manning went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 12, 2012.  Ron was born in Tremonton Utah on April 23, 1935 to James and Hazel Manning.  His family moved throughout Utah and Idaho following his father’s jobs in the fruit industry.  He graduated from Emmett High School in 1953 and had a brief experience at BYU and Boise Junior College. Then, he entered the Army, and moved multiple times to receive advanced training in multiple areas including electronics, missiles, and the military police.

Ron married Darlene Hall (Boise) February 12 th , 1956 in El Paso, Texas, where their first two children were born.  He entered the Officer Training School and was progressing through the course at the time of his Honorable Discharge.  After being discharged, he returned to Boise and worked at a few different jobs, including at the Titan Missile Silos near Mountain Home, prior to being hired by Mountain Bell.  Ron and Darlene had three more children in Boise before moving to Pocatello where Ron was the Manager of the local Mountain Bell office for over 15 years.  They moved back to Boise in 1984, and he retired soon after at age 50, after celebrating his 27 th year with the company.

Ron was very active in his kids’ lives as he rarely missed the school, sporting, music, or drama events.  He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.  He was involved in the Pioneers Snowmobile Club, and made several trips through Island Park, Yellowstone and many other places with his family and friends.  He enjoyed fishing trips below American Falls Dam and waterskiing trips at the lake or on the Snake River.  He also made multiple trips to go deep sea fishing with friends and family.  After retiring, he also “puttered” with gold mining in the Idaho City area, and could regularly be seen on a sports field or in a gym cheering on his grandchildren in whatever sport was being played.  Ron and Darlene divorced, but remained friends and supported their families.  For his 60 th birthday, he even went skydiving with his son Ron (Kim).  One of his proudest moments was when his grandson Marty invited Ron to present him his Infantry Blue Cord upon his graduation of basic training.  He did so with great honor and pride.

Ron had volunteered with the Veterans during his retirement, but had always been willing to help those in need.

He is survived by his sister s Beverly Murphy of Vancouver, Washington and Lenora Charles of Yakima, Washington, his brother, Lee (Lois) of Morgan, Utah, his daughters Beverly (Ray) Latham of Ashland, Alabama, Sue (Tiffany Mabey) Manning of Boise, and Tracie (Brian) Smith of Boise, his sons Ronald Kim (Linda) Manning of Kirksville, Missouri, and David (Kathi) Manning of Meridian, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with number 11 due in June, and too many nieces and nephews to name, but they are all in our thoughts.  H e is survived by his partner, friend and love Anne Vaughan .  Ron was preceded in death by his parents James and Hazel and his brother Jimmy.  He will truly be missed by many.

Visitation and service will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 6:00-8:00pm.  Service is Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00am followed by committal service with Military Honors at the Veterans’ Cemetery in Boise at 1:00pm.
