Ruby Shade, 90 , passed away at peace with life on Thursday, February 28, 2013 with her family at her side. Ruby was born on March 13, 1922 in Apache, OK to Maggie and Loren Devary. She was the second oldest of 6 children who grew up and graduated from high school in Okmulgee, OK . Ruby met the love of her life, Bert, in 1941 and she and Bert were married June 14th, 1942 in Wichita, KS and would remain so for 67 happy years .

Ruby's life was devoted to loving and caring about family, friends and neighbors. She always had a smile for most everyone and had a warm and kind spirit. She took the greatest of joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and prosper. She had a great sense of humor, competitive spirit and remained a curious and growing person who never grew old. One of her greatest accomplishments was in being able to make anyone feel loved and accepted unconditionally.

Ruby was always devout and confident in her faith and was a member of the Methodist Church since marrying Bert in 1942.

Ruby is survived by her two daughters Marie Shade and Jeri Fink (Bob) of Boise , two sisters, Velma Phipps of Tulsa , OK and Dorothy Scarborough of Leavenworth, KS; three grandchildren, Stephanie Waltman, Robert Fink and Jay Dodson (Amy), as well as two great-grandchildren, Triston and Hayden Dodson. She also has numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all and all feel grateful that she was significant in their lives.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff and residents at Plantation Place, you were like family and she loved you. Also, thanks to XL Hospice for their compassion and care of Ruby the last few weeks.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Rockies United First Methodist Church in the Cana Chapel . There will be a reception following the service. Services are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
