Ruth Bybee Thornley, 88, died May 14, 2012 at Spring Creek
Assisted Living in Boise with her family at her side. Memorial services will be conducted at Alden
Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave, Boise, Idaho at 3:00 p.m.,
Thursday May 17, 2012.
Ruth was
born in Downey, Idaho on August 25, 1923 to Guy Jefferson and Lareta Bennett
Bybee. She graduated from Downey High School
in 1942, then attended business school in Salt Lake City. Ruth married the love of her life, Dub, on
October 14, 1946. They lived in
Aberdeen; owned the T&K Market, then moved to Pocatello in 1952. Their lives were filled with family, friends
and horse activities. Ruth was always
at Dub’s side participating in the auxiliary associations related to the posse,
chariot races, rodeos, all relating to Dubs horses and interests. Ruth also
volunteered at Winnemucca Hospital Auxiliary and the community thrift store,
and was honored for her hours of volunteer service. In 1969 Dub joined Simplot Soilbuilders which
took them to Blackfoot ID and later to Winnemucca NV where they stayed until he
retired. In 1987 they moved to Boise to be closer to
family.
Ruth and
Dub enjoyed ballroom dancing and always eagerly traveled to family functions
and sporting events.
Ruth is
survived by her three children, Jolene Palmer (Boise,), Koret (Korri) Hall and
her husband Arnie (Boise) and Dell Bert Thornley and his wife Cigdem
(Germany). She has five grandchildren,
Kathy Joe Davidson, (Bryan), Jacque Marlene Smrt, (Jim), and Arika Joelle Hall,
Alex D Hall, (Mackenzie), Asli Pinar Thornley and twelve great
grandchildren. She is also survived by
two brothers Rex and Jack Bybee.
She was
preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dub, a son Randall, a great
grandson Hayden Hall, sisters Donna Burton, Betty Austin and brothers Keith,
Gene and Jay Bybee.
The family would like to give
heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Spring Creek Assisted
Living and Idaho Home Health and Hospice for their compassion and loving care
of our mother. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Ruth’s name
to a charity of choice. Friends and
family may call to visit with the family following the service at Koret &
Arnie Hall’s home at
7840 W Savannah Ct, Boise.
