Now I lay me down to…..Samantha Jo Weitensteiner lost her battle with cancer on the 28th of September 2016. Her life was full of sharp wit and laughter. Her sweet soul filled the world with song as she enjoyed preforming for others on stage or in the pre-op bellowing songs in Japanese to give pause and joy in a somber setting. Her talents were not limited to her singing. She thrived on all mediums of art from sculpting to sketching and a pair of knitting needles or a simple crochet hook could change a simple strand of yarn into a masterpiece. Sam had the courage and desire to continue as a student at Boise State through her treatment until the end. Sam is preceded by her grandparents while being survived by her mother Jeannie, her father John, her sister Marijane, brother Justin, sister-in-law Autum and supportive caring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Samantha shared her courage and bravery with the doctors, nurses, caps and staff at MSTI and the 4th floor at St. Luke’s who provided the community four additional months of the contagious smile, quick humor and loving attitude that was Samantha. She shared this by making sure that she put the feelings of her caregivers ahead of herself. Always apologizing for needing the assistance that was being provided to her. Her aura was like a magnetic charm that would grab your heart and never let go. It was her pleasure to share herself with others freely and without judgement. Sam was the kind of daughter, cousin, niece, sister and individual that instantly enveloped you in a blanket of friendship and love. She had the magical ability of making you feel how special you really were. She was in tune with the world around her, brave, talented and brilliant! We will miss you Sam!
