Sarah Elizabeth (Lib) Hawthorne

Sarah Elizabeth (Lib) Hawthorne

Lib Hawthorne peacefully passed at home May 23.  She was born June 5 in Estelline, Texas to Grover Cleveland and Betsy Ann Daniels.  She graduated from Texas Women's University in 1939.  On May 17, 1947 she was married in Houston to Dudley Delbert Hawthorne, her husband of 43 years.  She taught elementary school for many years in the Houston and Pearland School Districts, immensely enjoying working and helping children each day.  In 1981 she and her husband retired to Austin. After his death in 1991 she moved to Boise where she quickly joined a china painting and bridge group and made many friends that meant a lot to her.  While in Boise she continued her traveling that she had enjoyed throughout most of her adult life visiting Europe, Israel, New Zealand and Australia. She also often went camping with her daughter's family.  But what took up most of her time was attending her grandkids sporting events - soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track and cross country.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed attending New Year's Eve parties in Boise and 4th of July celebrations in Garden Valley.  It was appropriate her last meal was from a favorite, Taco Bell.

A memorial will be held at 4pm on Friday, July 6 at First Congregational Church, 2201 Woodlawn in Boise.  She was buried in Austin,Texas on June 1.  She is survived by her children Dudley (Michele) of Austin and Sarah of Boise and grandchildren Erin and Brian of Austin and Austin(Jillian) of Everett, Blaine(Suzy) of Denver and Paige of Boise and two great-grandchildren Kathryn and Kenan of Everett.

Memorials are suggested to Interfaith Sanctuary or the charity of your choice.
