Shirlene Box, 77, of Boise, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, in Boise, Idaho.
A committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
Shirlene was born on November 23, 1942, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Irene Panish Stradley and Archie Stradley.
Mom was a complicated woman to get to know. When you did, she was funny and cared deeply about those she loved. Even when she didn’t know how to show it, you knew. Most people remember her as stern, cold and aloof, but she really did have a humorous side. She would say the craziest things out of the blue. She was also a worrier. She was so afraid of something bad happening that she would become so focused on it that she forgot the good in life.
In her youth she was a free spirit and enjoyed life. She just forgot that part of herself as she got older, but it came out at unexpected times. Even with as much as we butted heads, there was love there. I shall miss her greatly.
Shirlene is survived by her daughter, Lorie Spear; granddaughter, Katie Spear; sister, Jackie (Terry) Franklin, niece, Leslie Cozza, and nephew, Andy Franklin.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Bill Box, brother, Jerry Stradley, and sister, Sherrill
McDonald.
