Steliana (Steluta or Stelica, "little star") Stanciu,
dearly loved wife, mother, and grandmother, joined her Lord and Savior, as well
as her husband on February 3, 2012, at 3:35 PM, in Meridian, Idaho, at home
with her family.
Steliana was born in Rucar Arges - Podu Dimbovitei village of
Romania to Dumitru and Irina Birloiu. She was one of nine siblings: Nenicu
(Ion), Lelica (Maria), Sica (Filofteia), Gheorghe, Tinculina (Ecaterina), Naica
(Nicolae), Mitica (Dumitru), and Puia (Sabina) - the only one still alive. Steliana attended
elementary school and gymnasium in Podu Dimbovitei. She left the countryside
and went to Bucharest where she finished high school and technical school to be
a laboratory tech. She studied biochemistry and pathology, and worked until she
retired, in the Railroad Hospital in Bucharest. She met Niculae Stanciu in June
of 1964 and they got married on July 22
nd
of the same year,
embarking on a beautiful and exemplary lifelong journey together. They had two
children, Irinel and Cristian.
Steliana passionately loved God her whole life. She was born in
an orthodox family and in March of 1969, she gave her life to Jesus Christ and
since then witnessed about Him everywhere, whether she was at work or with
friends and family. Her dedicated Christian lifestyle created a lot of
hardships and persecution at her work place, especially during the Communist
years, but she trusted the Lord with all her heart and He never let her down.
She loved the outdoors and was called the "mountain
goat" of the Carpathians Mountains. She also enjoyed singing, raising her
voice to praise God. Steliana took pleasure in cooking, always making all sorts
of delicious meals and desserts for her loved ones. She also enjoyed knitting
sweaters, hats, and scarves for her grandchildren, and reading books. She was a
faithful and relentless prayer warrior and loved Christian fellowship.
Since her retirement, she dedicated herself to raising her
children and grandchildren, devoting all her time teaching them to love God and
praying for them endlessly, whether close by or far away. She was the most
patient, kind-hearted, and wise woman – she exuberated joy, no matter the
situation, and talking with her about anything always brought comfort. To
anyone that entered the house, she displayed selflessness and compassion – no
one that knew her left without feeling blessed because she was in their life.
After her beloved husband, Niculae, went to be with Jesus on
February 27, 2009, she became even more ready go herself and be with him at any
moment.
She left an immense legacy, not only for her children and
grandchildren, but also for numerous nieces, nephews, extended family,
coworkers, other Christian brothers and sisters both at Cole Community Church
in Boise, Idaho and "Vestea Buna" Church in Bucharest, Romania, and
whoever had the privilege of knowing this amazing woman.
Steliana is survived by her two children Irinel and Cristian,
Sorin (son-in-law), Daniela (daughter-in-law), and four grandchildren whom were
honored to call her “Bunica”: Sabrina, Sergiu, Alexandra and Kristen.
Steliana’s family gives their deepest thank you to all her
extended family, friends, and acquaintances from all around the world, who have
devotedly prayed, consistently encouraged, and forever loved her during her
long and rich life. She was whole-heartedly delighted because of their
closeness and strengthened by their love.
