Steven passed on June 28, 2024 at the age of 71. He was a 1971 graduate of Thurston High School in Michigan and 1975 graduate from University of Michigan and in 1985 a Master’s of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University. Steve retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 22 years as a Substance Abuse Counselor. Then in 2007, Steve retired as a Senior Parole Officer from the Idaho Department of Corrections. He volunteered at the Idaho Veteran’s Home and the Idaho Humane Society for many years. He also was his mother’s caregiver until she passed in 2010. Steve was known to have a joke or funny story to tell. He always had a kind word to all who met him. He also loved traveling and military history.
He leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Lisa Hoag (Litzenberger) and pet Addison. He also leaves behind many family members to include his uncles, William Shubick of New York, Herbert Shubick of Ohio, and Gary Hammond of Michigan as well as aunt Carol Vargo (Larry) of Michigan and cousins. His in-laws, mother, Faye Noss of Allentown, PA; stepmother, Sylvia Litzenberger of New Tripoli, PA. Brother-in-law Benjamin Litzenberger (Robin), niece, Laura Ruggerio (Michael), nephew, Jared Litzenberger, from New Tripoli, PA. Sister-in-law Nadine Kistler (Bradley) of Kutztown, PA. Nephews, Brindan (Gabrielle) great-nephew, Henry, great-nieces, Hailey and Evelyn of Maxatawny, PA. Dethon (Adriana) of Hamburg, PA. and Barron (Kallie) of Topton, PA. Steve lost his father, James (Len) Hogg in 2001, mother, Marjorie (Shubick) Hoag in 2010 and brother, David Hogg in 1995, aunt Sue Hammond in 2023 and father-in-law, George Litzenberger in 2012.
