Steven Phillips, 49,
of Boise, died Monday, December 16, 2013 in Avamere care center with his
devoted mother by his side.
Steven was born February 29, 1964 in Pomona, CA. He lived in several CA cities including
Laguna Beach where he loved to surf.
During high school he played football and threw shot put in track. Steven graduated from high school in Texas
while working in the oil fields with his uncle Doug. While still in high
school. Steven was approached by several colleges to play football including
Oklahoma State University, Baylor University, University of Texas and
University of New Mexico.
In August of 1985,
Steven was involved in a life changing motorcycle accident, suffering a severe
brain injury. Steven was much loved
before and since his accident. He had a
special relationship with many of his caregivers both on Maui and here in
Boise.
He is survived by his mother, Rollene Billings, Boise; father, Geof Billings, Maui, Hawaii; two nephews, Steven Matlock, Moscow, ID and Scott
Matlock, Boise; and his aunt and uncle
Doug Caffey and Judy Caffey of Newport Beach, CA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa
Matlock, who died on December 11, 2013, just five days before Steven.
A celebration of life will be held at Foothills Christian
Church, 9655 W State St, Boise on January 5, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
