Susan Margaret Byington, 67, of Boise, ID, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 1, 1957, in Oak Harbor, WA, to Roy W. 'Pete' and Margaret Alice Peterson.
Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose kindness and generosity touched everyone she met. Her strength, resilience, and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her. With a warm, genuine laugh that could light up any room, Susan had a remarkable ability to make others feel at ease in her presence. She was a gifted conversationalist who made friends wherever she went, and her compassion knew no bounds. Always ready to lend a hand, Susan’s ever-present smile was a reflection of the joy she found in life.
In July 1997, Susan married Kelly Byington, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. They shared 27 wonderful years of marriage, raising four children, welcoming seven grandchildren, and celebrating the arrival of one great-grandchild. Susan’s greatest dedication was to her family, and her love for them knew no limits.
She was happiest when surrounded by family, especially during the holidays, when her home was filled with the sounds of laughter, stories, and love. Susan had a unique ability to make each person feel like the most important person in the room, always offering a warm smile and a listening ear. She created a home where generations connected, sharing moments of wisdom, laughter, and the simple joys of being together. Her home was a sanctuary, where time slowed down, and the love shared in those precious moments became cherished memories for all who were fortunate enough to experience them.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Kelly Byington; she was also survived by her mother Margaret Peterson; her children: Jennifer Norton (Arron Gomm), Kelly Jr. Byington, Melisa Shoecraft (Dave), and Shannon Byington; her grandchildren: Aaliyah Veazey (Ashton), Nicole Maganas (Austin), Joshua Norton, Bailey Byington, Dominic Byington, Sydney Shoecraft, and Mikey Shoecraft, who were the light of her life. She also took great joy in becoming a great-grandmother to Hensley Maganas. Susan leaves behind her beloved siblings: Bill Peterson and Kerry McCaslin (Steve), as well as her nieces and nephews: Cole McCaslin, Mckenna McCaslin, Kyle McCaslin, and Renee Perry (Matt). She was preceded in death by her father, Roy W. Peterson and her sister-in-law, Michelle Peterson.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, Susan’s love, compassion, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held in Oak Harbor, WA, where stories will be shared, and her legacy of love and laughter will be honored.
