Boise resident Thomas Edmond Brandon passed away on Wednesday September 25
th
.
Tom
was born July 20
th
1929 to Jim and Thelma Ellis Brandon, Graduated
from Boise High, Boise Jr. College, and then Graduated from San Jose State
University with a degree in Commercial Art and Advertising.
While
at San Jose State Tom met and married Dolores Nicholson of Caldwell, Idaho. After
graduation he accepted a position in Boise as the Display and Advertising Mgr.
at Falks ID. A few years later he began
his long carrier with the Idaho Statesman, which ended in his retirement in
1991 as Production Director at Gannett’s New Desert Sun newspaper in Palm
Springs.
In
addition to being an artist and sports enthusiast in skiing, golf, tennis, sailing
and fly-fishing, Tom was an active member of the
community. He was involved with the
Boise Parks & Recreation when the Green Belt Initiative was founded, and
Board Member of the Boise Art Museum when they started “Art In The Park”.
As a
board member and president of the Bogus Basin Recreational Association Tom
relished the opportunity to further the sport of skiing in Boise. A sport he dearly
loved.
Tom
was predeceased by his parents Jim and Thelma Brandon, brother James Albert
Brandon, daughter Jan Susanne Brandon, and granddaughter Megan Anne Brandon.
A
greatly loved father and grandparent, Tom is survived by his wife Dolores, sons
Craig Brandon (Amy), J. Scott Brandon (Deanna), daughter Nancy Kuyper (Kurt),
grandsons Bert Brandon (Dana), Scott T. Brandon, David Kuyper and Matthew
Kuyper, great grandchildren Grace Brandon & Samuel Brandon.
