Thomas Gerald Long was born in Akron, Ohio, on April 22,
1948 to William Mathew Long and Elaine Estelle (Williams) Long.
Tom attended and graduated from Capital High School and attended
one year at Boise State College. He married
Gretchen Marlene Long on June 25, 1971 in Boise, Idaho.
He retired from the United States Department of Agriculture and
was a member of the International PrintMakers Association. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family
and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, William and
Elaine Long, and his niece, Melissa Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen, of Kuna, ID; Children:
William G., of Deerbrook, WI; Cristina Cole of Stroud, OK; and Wendy Russell,
of Federal Way, Washington; Grandchildren: Dillon, Courtney, and Austin Cole,
and Shelbie, Kayla, Sarah, Emily, and Lily Long; Siblings: James (Marilyn)
Long, of Nampa, ID; Carol Dixon, of Boise, ID; Nephews: Bruce, Jeff, and Bob
Long; and several great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday,
November 21, 2014 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. A committal service with military honors will
be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, Idaho
Chapter.
