Thomas Michael Read passed away peacefully in the early hours of October 14th, 2023. Tom was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him and will be missed dearly.
Tom was born in Boise, Idaho on August 22nd, 1955 to Jean Read. Despite being born with cerebral palsy, Tom enjoyed his early childhood in Star, Meridian, and Boise with his mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, younger sister, and extended family.
Tom was a remarkable individual. He was funny, loving, and stubborn in the best way. He touched the hearts of so many and made lifelong friendships. He was an avid collector of Coca Cola memorabilia, aluminum pop tabs, coffee mugs, and anything purple. Tom had a fighting spirit, which helped him to overcome every obstacle placed in front of him throughout his 68 years of life.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother Jean, grandparents James and Josephine, aunt Joan (Dean), cousin DeAnn (Mike). He is survived by his sister Debbie (Steve), aunt Jacqueline (Greg), uncle Jerry (Debra), his niece Cassandra (Dustin), and numerous cousins.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation in Thomas Read's name.
