Tim Schafer, 63 of Boise, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 24th, 2011. Tim was born to Carolyn and Donald Schafer on December 1st, 1947 in Denver, Colorado. He attended elementary school and Junior High in Hillrose and Brush, Colorado before moving to Paul, Idaho to finish high school at Minico High.

Tim attended The University of Idaho and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture in 1971. He then moved to Boise, Idaho and joined the Idaho National Guard where he served for six years. In Boise he met and married Kathy Spain in 1973. They had two children: Rob (Bob) and Brad Schafer. Tim worked for Boise Cascade in the housing division for 12 years. He then moved on to designing log homes until retiring from Precision Craft Log Structures in 2009.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Eldon Spain. He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Rob and his wife Molly with grandson Dylan, son Brad with his wife Anna, mother-in-law Betty Spain, three brothers Tom, Ron, and Philip, three sisters Debbie Kniep, Judy Taylor, and Donna Hardman and their families, and his brother-in-laws Roy and Len Spain and their families.

Tim loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchild Dylan. He thoroughly enjoyed oil painting and traveling to various places to enjoy nature. Here are some of his favorite places to visit: Kolob Canyon in Zion Park, Utah, Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast (his secret cove), and the Sawtooth Mountains especially the Stanley Basin.

A memorial service will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 29th, 2011 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Four Rivers Hospice (through Saint Als Hospital).

We love you Dad and thank you for all the wonderful paintings and memories you left us with. You will be missed.
