Tony
L. Wurschmidt, 52, of
Boise
,
died Friday, October 7, 2011 at home after losing his battle with recurrent
head and neck cancer.
A
vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel. A
memorial mass will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 12th at Holy
Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd, Meridian. Committal services
with Naval military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Idaho
State Veterans Cemetery.
Tony
was born on May 6, 1959 in Red Bluff, California, the son of George and
Georgene Rowan Wurschmidt. Tony served
in the military from 1977 until 1987.
While in the military he lived all over the world but he loved
Boise
and always called
it home. He married his first wife,
Cindy Wurschmidt on March 21, 1981.
Together they had five children and were later divorced. Tony later married Cheryl Bowers on May 11,
2002 in Las Vegas, NV.
Tony
worked as a salesman at Larry Miller Subaru for several years.
His
hobbies included softball, fishing, camping and singing. He loved football and was a huge fan of the
Dallas Cowboys and Boise State Broncos.
Survivors
include his wife, Cheryl Bowers; children, Benjamin Wurschmidt, Joshua
(Katherine Bell) Wurschmidt, Daniel Wurschmidt, Genevieve Wurschmidt, David
Wurschmidt, Sarah (Nathaniel) Bratton, Joe Clarke, and Alex Clarke; siblings,
Paul (
Dee
) Wurschmidt, Leslie Dooley, Karen
(John) Forberg, and Laurie (Howard) Pollock; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a
brother, Jay A. Wurschmidt and a brother-in-law, David Dooley.
The
family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to all of the staff and nurses
at downtown MSTI, especially Pat Cartner, RN, Dr. Norman Zuckerman and Dr. Steven
Smith, for their extraordinary care, kindness and support of Tony, Cheryl and
family.
The
