Tracy Lynne Eby passed away February 17, 2012, at Saint
Alphonsus Hospital.
Tracy was born in Daly City, California on November 6, 1958.
Her Mother Dallas Knowlton, born and raised in Sweet and her Father Harry
O’Neil, born and raised in Leadore and Boise had moved to the Bay area in the
mid 50’s. She had a wonderful time growing up in
Daly City
and she really relished the annual trip to Emmett and
Boise
to visit her family here. After
graduation from High School she worked at the SF Federal Home Loan Bank as
admin to the President for two years. She then moved to
Boise
and worked a season at
Bogus
Basin
. After Bogus closed,
she found a job as a waitress at the Red Lion Inn-Downtowner where in the
summer of 1981 she met a cook named Doug Eby. After a reasonably tumultuous
relationship they married in December of 1982. She started her family that June
with the birth of her darling daughter Sally. Soon after Sally’s birth Harry
and Dallas sold the dental practice and moved back to
Boise
. Tracy worked at Clemons, Cosho and
Humphrey as a legal secretary until the birth of her son Alex in November of
1986. Did life ever change after that with two extremely dynamic and
intelligent children! After Alex started school she went back to work part time
at Clemons, Cosho and studied for and received her Real Estate license. She
joined White-Riedell and entered a community of friends that loved and
supported her, especially the Super Pros Janis and Barbara. She settled into
the good life of Wife, working Mom and School, Dance and Sports Mom (she was
also a cookie Mom). In the spring of 1988 she joined the Plantation CC and
found her second home. That summer she became a Pool and Golf Mom and raised
her children in that idyllic setting for years to come. She had the best of
friends in sweet Lori, fiercely competitive
Beverly
and the strong and independent women of the
Plantation
. She competed well for many years
at Ladies Best Balls around the valley, Twilight, Tri-Club and couples tournaments
with Doug, at the club and other tracks. They even won the Scotch Pines and
McCall Chapman one year. The biggest hoot for Tracy though was the McCall
Ladies Best Ball every year. What happened there stayed there.
Tracy
traveled to many
different and exciting places but her favorite was McCall. The annual family
trip to Crystal Beach with the California O’Neils, the Annex for three summers
and her brothers house on the golf course gave her lots of time in McCall and
she loved every minute of it. Her family, the Battey’s, the Knowlton’s, the
Clark’s, the O’Neils, the Brown’s and the Eby’s are truly a wild and crazy
bunch. She held them close to her heart always, also her cherished friends
Diane and Cindy. Her two proudest moments were when Sally graduated from Eagle
High School as a Valedictorian in 2001 and when Alex was named by the IGA as
the 2004 Idaho Junior Golfer of the Year and earned a golf scholarship to the
University of Utah.
She had a good life and is survived by her husband Doug,
daughter Sally Hunter, son Alex Eby, brother Kelly O’Neil, sister Kristin
Battey, grandchildren Jay and Elle, and many wonderful aunts, cousins, nieces
and nephews.
Tracy loved her animals and if anyone wishes to donate
please do so to your local Humane Society.
A celebration of Tracy’s life will be held at the Red
Lion-Downtowner Saturday March 3
rd
at 6:30 PM. There will be lots of
good food and refreshments. She would have been thrilled to see all of her
family, friends and neighbors there. Please come and share with us.
