Vanny Deforest Squier 1923-2014

Vanny DeForest Squier, 91, of Boise, went home to meet our Heavenly Father on Sunday October 26, 2014. He passed away peacefully with family at his side. Vanny was born on September 21, 1923 in Brownell, Kansas to Otis L and Myrtle M Squier. He was the third of five siblings; Gertrude, Martin, Vanny, Delia, and Marie.

Vanny attended Cottage Elementary and Brownell High. He joined the Army Air Force in 1943. When he came home from the service, he met and married Dolores Jeppson. Out of that union, came four children; Michael, Vanny Douglas, Kathryn and Theresa. They later divorced.

Vanny retired as Chief Warrant Officer from the Army National Guard on September  21, 1983.

Vanny was baptized December 31, 1960 and confirmed a member to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the first of January 1961.

Vanny met the love of his life, Betty Lou Franklin, and married on June 29th, 1962. Together they combined two families into one,  four boys and two girls; Mike, Vanny Douglas, Kathy, Theresa, Keith and Mark.

In his later years, Lola Blanchard was Vanny's friend and and world-wide traveling companion.

Vanny was preceded in death by his mother and father and wife Betty, sister Gertrude and brother Martin.

Vanny is survived by his six children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his sisters Delia and Marie.

A celebration of Vanny's life will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Home at 5400 W Fairview Ave in Boise, ID on Saturday November 1st 2014 at 1:30 pm. A viewing is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 pm also at Alden-Waggoner just prior to the service. A graveside burial will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery immediately following the service.
