Vera
Stevenson,96,of Boise died Sunday, Jan. 12,2014, passing peacefully in her
apartment at Valley View Retirement Center, where she lived for the last 26
years.
Funeral
services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Alden-Waggoner
Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave. Private burial will be in Joplin Cemetery.
Vera was
born to M. Tobe & Lucille Matthews on July 18,1917 and married John
Stevenson in 1935. They had 2 daughters, Margaret Lucille (Wright) and Sandra
Mae (Bowman), who gave them 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great
great grandchildren.
Vera was an
active member of University Christian Church for many years and enjoyed Bible
study, history, and reading. She also volunteered at St. Luke's and Life Care
Center of Boise for years, winning BAC woman of the year in 1972.
She was
preceded in death by her brother, husband, 2 daughters, and 1 grandson.
In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to Boise Rescue Mission. The family extends
heartfelt thanks to Align Hospice and At Home Care for their devoted help.
