Vernon Louis Guyer, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was
surrounded by his wife, and two of his children April 2, 2017 when he left this
earth to be with his Lord.
Vern was born July 28, 1930 in Baker City, Oregon to parents Louis
Henry, and Erma Gladys Guyer.
He graduated from Baker City High School in “1948”.
Directly after graduation Vern enrolled in
a mechanics school in Portland, Oregon. He spent many years working in his
trade as an outstanding mechanic.
Later
he married and moved his small family from Baker, City to Bainbridge Island,
Washington
where he bought his first
home, and
in “1954” rode the ferry
each day to attend a Bible College in Seattle. Years later, Vernon became a
pastor of the Assembly Of God Church in Union, Oregon, as well as the Assembly
Of God Churches in Riggins, GlensFerry, and Meridian Idaho. Vern then settled
in Boise, Idaho where he had animals that he was crazy about, horses, cats, and
a few very special dogs. For a season, he and his wife Cynthia owned
a
small
sheep ranch. He embarked on other financial adventures such as owning and
operating an automobile repair shop “Vern and Gary’s car clinic”, he later
became a financial advisor, and owned and operated a silk screen T shirt shop
as well.
He had a great love for the outdoors and could not wait for
winter to end so he could take his boat and go fishing, often with his son
Gary. He whole heartedly
cherished
camping with family and friends throughout the summer months. He also had a
passion for restoring old cars with his cousin Ron Guyer and friends. His 1954
Willy’s placed in a number of car show competitions. Vern and his cousin worked
many hours on a 1950 Studebaker which is still in progress
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Erma
Guyer.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Guyer,
brother Dale Guyer, Aunt Anita Wilson, 3
children, Margie Larson, Gary Guyer, and Kenneth Guyer, two stepchildren, Chris
Hedges, and Stab Hedges. 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 1 great
great grandchild, a niece, nephew, and many cousins, as well as his sweet dog
Emma.
All will miss him dearly.
Services will be held April 22, 2017 at 11:00
at the CityHope Church 8650 West Fairview
Avenue, Boise, Idaho 83704.
