Virgil E. Moench,
84, of Boise, died Friday, July 13, 2012 in a Boise hospital.
Virgil was born
October 24, 1927 in Desmet, South Dakota the son of Fred and Jennie (Berry)
Moench. He was one of seventeen children
(10 brothers and 6 sisters).
Virgil spent his
early years in Minnesota where he completed six years of schooling. In 1950 he joined the United States Army,
from which he was honorably discharged in 1952.
He lived in Iowa, Minnesota
and then Idaho. Virgil was involved in commercial
construction for many years.
Virgil had a passion
for bargain hunting. He enjoyed yard
sales, consignment shops, and thrift stores.
Virgil loved the challenge of a jigsaw puzzle and would say “them women
called me over to help get their puzzles together”. Helping neighbors was important to him. He was known for telling Moench Family
stories from the old days. Virgil
collected coins for his great granddaughter of the heart, Evie. He liked to camp, ride ATV’s, and taking long
rides with his sons. Virgil enjoyed apple
or pumpkin pie and ice cream, but more than anything else he loved to spend
time with his sons.
Virgil was a member
of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by
his sons and daughters-in-law, Everett and Vickie Moench; and Clinton and
Brenda Moench, all of Boise; as well as several brothers and sisters. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife,
Arlene and several brothers and sisters.
There will be a
viewing on Friday, July 20th, at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, from 5:00
p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services
will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Alden-Waggoner
Funeral Chapel. Burial with military
honors will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
