Virginia Reynolds passed away peacefully at her home
in Boise, on November 19, 2012, with her loving family at her side.
She was born on July 26, 1921, in Richfield,
Idaho, to John and Ruby McIntosh. She
grew up on the family farm with six brothers and sisters and graduated from
Richfield High School. She then spent a
year working for the local school system where the principal encouraged her to
take a college correspondence course. Her
choice was applied psychology. She took
those lessons to heart, combined them with her Christian faith, and for the
rest of her life, did her best to understand, love, and accept her fellow
humans.
She moved to Boise and attended beauty school,
becoming a licensed beautician. She was
proud of her profession and enjoyed and valued her customers and the creative
aspects of her job. Virginia was an avid
reader and loved to work puzzles and play games, especially 10,000 and Upwords. She was good at it too, beating the rest of
us with disturbing regularity. She was a
member of the University Christian Church, a past member of the order of Eastern
Star, and past noble grand of the Rebekah lodge.
In 1945 Virginia married Donald I. Reynolds, a marriage
that lasted and thrived 56 years until Don’s death in 2001. She continued to live in the family home
supported by the love and companionship of her sister Lois Green; her dearest
friend Carol Schwoebel; nightly phone calls from her Montana daughter Dawn Lee;
the continual care and devotion of her youngest daughter Shelley Gordon,
son-in-law Dana, and grandson Alex; and her wonderful neighbors, relatives, and
friends. There are not words enough to
thank them for their kindness, friendship, and support. She loved and cared for them all.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Dawn Lee,
son-in-law Keith, and grandson Kendal McCallum of Helena and Belgrade, Montana;
daughter Shelley, son-in-law Dana, and grandson Alex Gordon of Boise; sister
Helen Story of Twin Falls; and sister Lois Green of Meridian; and many much-loved
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her parents, husband Don; brothers Hubert, Cliff (WW II), and Carl
McIntosh; and sister Wilma Boger.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions
to the Idaho Food Bank, 3562 South TK Ave., Boise, Idaho 83705 or the Idaho
Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St., Boise, Idaho 83705.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on
Saturday, November 24, at Dry Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Stamper
officiating. Services are under the direction of the Alden-Waggoner Funeral
Chapel.
