Vivian
C. Bonde, 101, of Boise died Monday, May 6, 2013 at a local care center. A graveside service will be held Monday, May
13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery.
A viewing will be held Sunday, May 12 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the
Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel
Vivian
was born on January 20, 1912 in Sunny Slope, Idaho to Emma Pearl Connell and
Jesse Mackay Stocker. Vivian’s mother
died hours after giving birth so she was raised by her grandparents Helum and
Carrie Connell. Vivian met Roy L. Bonde
of Madison, South Dakota on Sunny Slope and married him on September 2, 1932 in
Vail, Oregon. July 1, 1933 Vivian gave
birth to twins Larry and Gary. The
family lived in a WWII style canvas tent with a wooden floor north of Nampa on
the Snake River on Roy’s father’s farm.
Another son Steve was born August 3, 1942. In 1944 the family moved to Nampa where they
purchased the Dell grocery store. They
lived in a small apartment attached to the store. The family moved to Boise in 1961 and opened
Wheeler’s Handout on Vista and Overland.
They owned and operated it until it closed in 1988. Vivian’s husband Roy, of 59 years passed away
on December 31, 1991.
In
addition to her husband Roy, she was preceded in death by her twin sons Gary
and Larry Bonde. Vivian is survived by
son, Stephen Bonde, his two children and five grandchildren; Gary’s two
remaining children, Larry’s seven children and many grandkids and
great-grandkids.
