W. Tom Birch, 65, of Meridian, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at his home.

Tom was born to Wayne and Marjorie Birch in Gooding, Idaho January, 27, 1947.  He was raised in Boise, Idaho and graduated from Borah High School in 1965.  He attended the University Of Idaho where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity and graduated with a BS in Business in 1969.

Tom married Karen A Young on October 16, 1971 in Seattle, WA and they began their lives together in Boise, later moving to Burnsville, MN where they resided for 25 years before returning to Boise to be with grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Jennifer (Tim) Wicke, son Steven (Darcie) Birch grandchildren Courtney McInroy, Bryan Wicke, Susan Wicke, Thomas Birch, Keiser Birch and great-granddaughter Aerabella Fox.  Mother, Marjorie Birch, brother Dave (Nancy) Birch, sister Kathy (Robert) Durbin and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Birch.

Tom spent his professional career in the Mortgage Industry in Minnesota and Idaho where he was an active member of many professional organizations and charities.  He was currently the Director of Home Ownership Counseling for Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.   Tom found his passions through a variety of activities.  He became a soccer and baseball coach when his son was young and through his volunteering has touched the lives of numerous children, including his grandchildren for the past thirty years.  He most recently was the Tot Program Director for Meridian PAL Soccer.  Tom was also an avid golfer and enjoyed his annual golf trip with close friends.  Tom remained a loyal Vandal and was a proud member of the Alumni Board and President of the Minnesota Alumni Chapter.  He was a Wine Enthusiast and President of the Treasure Valley Wine Society.
