Wallace Emron Ashby entered eternal
rest on August 11th, 2013. A viewing
will be held at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 14, 2013
from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will
be held 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints, Northview Chapel at Northview and Allumbaugh, Boise. Burial with military honors will follow at
Cloverdale Cemetery.
He was born to Hassell Eva Bartlett
and Emeron Ashby on January 30, 1928 in Burley Idaho. He attended schools in
Twin Falls, Idaho. As a child, Wally loved going fishing and pheasant hunting
with his Grandpa Bartlett.
Wally joined the Marine Corp in
September of 1945. He received an honorable discharge in 1949.
In 1950, he and Betty Ann Bonar were
married. On Christmas Eve, 1951, a daughter, Nicolette, was born followed by
Shari Rochelle in 1953, and Wallace Scott in 1958. The marriage later ended in
divorce.
On Oct. 1, 1969, he and Maria Holt
were married. Wally adored Maria and was heartbroken by her death in 2007. They
enjoyed traveling to visit their children and grandchildren throughout the U.S.
and they made several trips to Maria's native home in the Netherlands.
Wally was employed by Town &
Country Bakery and Eddy's Bakery for a combined 30 years. After retiring from
Eddy's, he was employed for several years at Shadow Valley Golf Course;
however, he never really thought of that as work. Wally loved golf and was also
an avid bowler where he made many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his
parents and wife.
Surviving family includes his three siblings;
sister, Ruby LaVeda Abney, Salt Lake City, UT, sister, Mabel Washburn,
Placerville, CA, brother, William Poppleton, Boise, ID.
Also surviving him are daughter,
Nicolette and Vern Breazeal, Lewiston, ID, daughter, Shari Sims, Shai Sims, Boise,
ID; son, Wallace Scott and Melinda Ashby, Aloha, OR; step-daughter, Sophia and
Stephen Hall, Park City, UT; step-son, Roy and Kris Holt, Henderson, NV;
Beloved grand and great-grand children;
Marci and Derrick Pruitt, and their sons, Nathan Pruitt and Spencer Pruitt, Bothell,
WA; Douglas Blayne and Wanda Covington and their children, daughter, Kaitlynn
Covington, daughter, Cydnee Covington, son, George B. Covington, daughter, Zoey
Maria Covington, son, Zachary Covington, Lewisville, TX; Jeremy Breazeal, Lewiston,
ID; Justin Sims, Boise, ID and his son, Austin Sims, CA; Miranda Rochelle Sims,
and her children, son, Aiden McDaniel Sims, son, Wyatt Dalton Sims, daughter,
