Wayne Merlin Shuster, 97, of Boise, Idaho, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at his home in Boise, Idaho.

He was born May 5, 1914, in Shickley, Nebraska, the son of Jesse and Amelia Bell Shuster. He was the oldest of 5 siblings.

In 1934 Wayne moved to Oregon to look for work and worked in the Ontario and Portland areas before getting a job at the Enkay Dairy near La Grande in June 1936, where he met Velma Hope Wise, and on June 21, 1937, they were married in Enterprise, Oregon. They moved to Ontario in May 1946 and then to Fruitland, Idaho, in 1951. Wayne was a business owner in Fruitland until his retirement . He moved to Boise in 1999. Wayne embraced the Gospel in the spring of 1937, a decision that influenced the rest of his life.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Delno and Gloria Shuster of McKinleyville, California; daughter, Glenda Peterson of Cheney, Washington; daughter, Opal Shuster of Boise, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Shari Shuster of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shuster was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; an infant daughter, Sharilee; two brothers, Willard and Finley; and two sisters, Edna and Della.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise, with interment in Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth, Idaho at 3:30 p.m.
