William A. "Bill" Caviness



William A. "Bill" Caviness, 75, of Cascade, ID, died Monday, February 3, 2014, of natural causes.

Bill was born in Boise, Idaho on June 4, 1938, to Edna Dutson and Clyde Caviness. He married Georgia Christiansen on July 10, 1962 and together they had three children. They lived in Boise and Cascade.

Bill had various occupations throughout his lifetime which included logging, driving for various trucking and lumber companies as well as being employed at Syringa Gardens Cemetery for 25 years. During his years at Syringa Gardens he also ran his own sawmill and logging company, “Caviness Logging”. After retiring from Syringa Gardens he operated and maintained snowmobile groomers throughout the state of Idaho. During this time he served as a deputy for Valley County. He completely retired from all of his jobs in 2006.

Bill was a very private man who enjoyed his family immensely. His family meant the world to him and he truly loved spending every moment he could with them. Besides spending time with his family he loved the outdoors. Hunting and gold mining were two of the things he enjoyed.. During the winter you could almost always find him on a snowmobile. Bill also loved to go for motorcycle rides on his Harley Davidson.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Caviness; children, Dave (Becky) Caviness, Sandra “Sis” (Ward) Spence, and Allen (Lisa) Caviness. Grandchildren, Casey, Tyler, Patrick, Wyatt, Allissa and Brittany. Brother, Dave (Jane) Caviness and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Ed and Dale and sister Bonnie.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his daughter's residence, 5445 S. Zonetailed Way., Boise, Idaho 83716. At his request, Bill was cremated and his cremated remains will be scattered at his favorite hunting spot and gold mining claim.
