William (Bill) C. Wood, 79, of Meridian, ID, died
Nov. 1, 2011 at the Idaho State Veterans Home, Boise. William was born on
January 12, 1932 in Nampa, ID, to Lee O. and Doratha W. Wood. They moved to
Meridian, ID in 1941.
Bill attended Meridian Elementary School and
graduated from Meridian High School in 1950. He worked for Meridian Drug Store
until joining the Air Force 146
th
Supply Sq. in 1951, and was
stationed at Victorville, CA during the Korean War.
He married Mary Ewart on Oct. 19, 1952 in Meridian,
ID and raised five children. Soon after his discharge from the service, they
moved to Pocatello and he went to Idaho State University for 3 years. They came
back to Boise, and Bill worked at several different places over the years,
including, Skaggs Drug Store, Associated Foods as a salesman and Buyer, Boise
School Bus Company, and Jackson Store. He later divorced his wife in 1976 after 24 years of
marriage. He met and married Dee McKinney in April of 1983 and was divorced in
1995.
Bills hobbies included hunting, fishing, and
camping.
He was a member of the Ten Mile Christian Church in
Meridian, ID.
Survivors include: five children and their families,
son, Charles Lee Wood of Boise; son, Rodney Wood of Boise; daughter, Kathy Wood
of Santa Rosa, CA; daughter, Debbie Wood of Boise; and daughter, Marcia Wood of
Florida; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Thelma Scott
and her husband Zenith Scott of Boise; step-sister, Neva Timmons and her
husband John Timmons of Meridian; and step-sister, Betty Brunk and her husband
Jack Brunk of Meridian.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lee O.
Wood and Doratha Wood (Paul); step-father, Chester Paul; and three brother
Eugene Wood, Bob Wood, and Lyle Wood; a step-sister Cleta Meredith; and his
grandparents.
Viewing will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave., Boise, ID.
Pastor Larry Woodard will be officiating a funeral service on Saturday, Nov. 5,
2011 at 2 p.m. at Alden-Waggoner Chapel, with graveside services following at
Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise.
