October 14, 1947 - August 14, 2012
Bill was the second born of identical twins. He and his brother
Bob learned at an early age that that could be lots of fun. They had
their own language as toddlers, and as teens they liked to switch places and
see how many people they could fool. Switching also came in handy when one had
studied for a test in school and the other hadn't. When they were 17,
they were blessed by a little sister, Holly. Their first real separation
came after graduation. Bob went to college and Bill joined the Air Force
and served in Viet Nam. When later stationed in Shreveport, Louisiana,
Bill met and married Carolyn Wallace. Their first daughter, Cindy was
born while they were there. Bill re-enlisted after Louisiana and moved to
Alaska. Why? For the fishing! He absolutely loved it!
After that term, Bill and his family moved back to Meridian, where his family
lives. Their second daughter, Lisa, was born soon after. Bill
worked for the VA hospital in Boise and was a member of the Air Force Reserves.
Bill loved his family, his friends, fishing, football, and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Flora Cook.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Karen
Cook; sister, Holly Cook; former wife, Carolyn Pries; daughters and
sons-in-law, Cindy and Rodney Allen and Lisa and Larry Roy; six grandsons, two
of whom are identical twins; three nephews; one niece; and several aunts,
uncles, and cousins, including Cathy Herridge, who was like a sister, and
Richard Schaffer, who was like a brother.
Bill was greatly loved, and will be missed beyond measure.
Thank you God, for the gift of his life. Our special thanks to Hilda
Floyd, the VA hospital, and Bill's beloved cousin, Cathy Herridge.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17,
2012, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
