Wilma E. Armstrong Brassey was born in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada on October 23, 1948 and went to join her heavenly father on September
25, 2015. Wilma was a loving wife and a caring compassionate soul who spent her
energies and time making the lives of others more rewarding and fulfilling.
Wilma was two years old when her family emigrated from Canada
to Orovada, Nevada where she attended school in a one room schoolhouse until
she moved on to become an honor student in high school in Winnemucca. After
high school Wilma moved to Boise to attend Boise State University and to work
at Eberle, Berlin, Kading, Turnbow and Gillespie as a secretary. In her career
in law she became a prominent legal secretary and served as the president of
both the local and state legal secretaries associations. She became the
administrator of the firm before retiring. After working in several other
firms, Wilma found her true calling and an outlet for her caring compassion as
a volunteer at the Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI).
At MSTI Wilma was proud to work in the Outpatient Infusion Unit
with the people she believed to be the best of the best in cancer care. She was
a fearless and tireless advocate for patients and for the team with whom she
worked. Her greatest reward was the opportunity to help people to deal with
cancer with the same courage, grace and strength that carried her through her
fight with the disease. She remained ever grateful for the care she received
and tried her best to return that care to others.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Mike Brassey and by Kathleen
and Bill McCurdy, Jean and Nick Latham and Andy and Chry
stine
Brassey and their families. A ceremony in celebration of Wilma’s life is
scheduled for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests
that donations be made to the Idaho Humane Society or to the Mountain States
Tumor Institute.
