Yuen Kwan Lo

Yuen Kwan Lo, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Guangzhou, China, in 1935, Yuen was the fourth of six children. Her family moved to Hong Kong in 1945, where Yuen developed a passion for learning. After graduating from high school, she taught kindergarten and first grade, earning the affectionate nickname "the little teacher."

At the age of 19, Yuen married Lai Lo, and together they had five children. In 1968, the large family immigrated to Canada, settling in Woodbridge, Ontario. For many years Yuen worked as a nurse’s aide in various nursing homes, demonstrating her compassionate nature and dedication to others.

In 1989, after a brief move back to Hong Kong, Yuen and Lai immigrated once again, this time to the United States. They settled to El Monte, California, where they lived until Lai's passing in 2023. In her final years, Yuen found joy living with her daughter, Janet and her family in Boise, Idaho. She was especially fond of her grandsons, Kyle and Dylan, who cherished their time with their beloved "Pau Pau."

Yuen was a woman of quiet strength and contentment. She found solace in the beauty of nature; enjoyed watching movies; and loved playing with her canine companions. Her gentle spirit and unwavering positivity brought peace to those around her.

Yuen was preceded in death by her parents Hon-Ping Leung 梁康平 and Wai-Sheung Chan 陳惠嫦; brothers Yuk-Man Leung, Chi-Ming Leung (Sam), and Yuk-Kwan Leung; and her husband of 68 years, Lai Lo.

She is survived by her brother, Yuk-Tong Leung (Leo); her sister, Yim Kwan Leung; her five children, Zee Lo, Marlon Lo, Jean Lo, Alec Lo, and Janet Lo (John Rowe); and her grandchildren Adrien Kazda, Sophie Kazda, Kyle Lo-Rowe, and Dylan Lo-Rowe.

A celebration of Yuen's life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Planned Parenthood.
