Our History

The Alden-Waggoner Story

Opened in 1916, Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel has provided caring service to generations of Idaho families. During those years, the funeral home has been owned and operated by four Boise families: the McBratneys, the Aldens, the Waggoners, and the Gordons.

Alden-Waggoner has chosen not to follow the trend of out-of-state corporate ownership, meaning our commitment is to provide your family with options and services that you choose at reasonable prices.

William McBratney began the funeral home in a store-front location on Idaho Street near Seventh. In 1929, he moved into a building at Ninth and State Streets. It was the first building in Idaho built specifically as a funeral chapel. Earl Alden purchased the funeral home in 1949 and was later joined by Earl Waggoner and Tim Alden.

In 1973, Alden-Waggoner relocated to its larger, modern facility at 5400 Fairview Avenue.

Steve and Myrna Gordon joined the firm in 1982.

For over 100 years, Alden-Waggoner has cared for Idaho families. You have our pledge to continue caring whenever you call on us.
